Dive into old-school gaming

DLVR: An OSR Adaptation of BOLT is a free action tabletop game that lets you enjoy OSR roleplaying without having to follow rigid rules. Developed by Ajey Pandey, this game is an Old-School Renaissance (OSR) adaptation of the BOLT RPG Engine—which he designed, as well. It allows you to pretty much prioritize the utilization of skills in your gaming campaigns, but still allow you to make any adventure as flexible as your party wants.

Be quick and nab the prize

In RPG tabletop gaming, there are various ways to play. With this, you can find hundreds of different rulesets and RPG engines to help you craft the adventuring campaign you and your fellow players want. BOLT is one of these engines. It is a versatile action-centric tabletop RPG built on fast gameplay and escalating tension. As an RPG engine, it comes with a design to make encounters go faster and come with higher risks and rewards

However, if you like how BOLT operates and prefer something that puts more emphasis on skills, then DLVR is a good choice to try out. Pronounced as Delver, this engine adaptation delivers an Old-School Renaissance/Revival type of gameplay. Instead of linear and grand adventure plots, the players can enjoy character growth as they are pushed to strategize and survive encounters with their skills.

This makes this RPG engine an interesting toolbox of tricks to play with. Take note, however, that this game does not provide an EXE file—it contains a PDF of 5 beautiful-designed pages that you are meant to print out or display on mobile devices as you play. It’s advised that you use this document alongside BOLT’s own PDF, as any rules not modified in DLVR must be assumed unchanged from the BOLT core rules.

See your characters grow

All in all, DLVR: An OSR Adaptation of BOLT is a unique change of pace in tabletop games, even when compared to its source material. It has enough information to make its differences from BOLT clear while still letting you be flexible in your campaign setting. While you will have to use the BOLT document alongside it, it’s still a highly recommended ruleset to try out.
